Personal Finance: When I Grow Up

BLOCK DAY 25/26 NOV

Bellwork: What do you want to be when you grow up?

Objective: students will complete a test that will help guide them towards certain careers.

Activity: in the computer lab today! Students will go to www.yourfreecareertest.com and complete the test. They will then select three different careers to research. Fill out the "Career Worksheet" in their Personal Finance Folder. Students will also need to go to this website to complete the worksheet: http://money.usnews.com/careers/best-jobs/rankings/the-100-best-jobs  (please see the PowerPoint from 24 Nov for more details as well as the worksheet).

Homework: complete the "Job Prospects log" tonight:
Please have a conversation with a parent/guardian/adult about the jobs that you are interested in pursuing once you graduate. Write a 100 word response here in which you detail the conversation and share your interests as well as the parent/guardian/adult’s response to your choices.

Absent? Complete the "Career Worksheet" on your own time.

Objective: Students will analyze what their school is providing for them to stay out of poverty.
Activity: Poverty PowerPoint and letter writing assignment (see Nov 17th post for PowerPoint)
Homework: Please bring in a three prong folder for a project that we will be doing!
Absent? Please write a 200 word letter to Dr. Romero explaining what Pueblo High School can do to improve the school and prevent students from entering poverty once they graduate.

Activity: Poverty PowerPoint, worksheet, and golden ticket activity
Homework: Have a discussion with an adult about how they feel  about poverty. Write a 50 word response that details your opinion and the adult’s opinion on poverty.
